About Broken Axle
The origin of Broken Axle:
When I was new to off-roading, I had a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. I had just finished installing a 4.5" lift kit from Rubicon Express on a Thursday and then headed out for a long weekend to "break" it in. I met up with local off-road club "The Calgary Jeep Association" and went for a drive. It all started off pretty good, but about an hour into it, the vacuum disconnect on the front axle stopped working. Not a big deal, I carried on in two wheel drive. A couple more hours went by, then in the middle of a long hill climb, the spider gears in the rear differential exploded. After a few choice words were said, the good folks of the Calgary Jeep Association were kind enough to tow my Jeep with two broken axles out of the bush. To this day I am very grateful that they were willing to help out like they did. I didn't know any of them before that day and they had no obligation to help, but I've learned that's just the kind of people there are in this sport and industry.
