When I was new to off-roading, I had a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. I had just finished installing a 4.5” lift kit from Rubicon Express on a Thursday and then headed out for a long weekend to “break” it in. I met up with local off-road club “The Calgary Jeep Association” and went for a drive. It all started off pretty good, but about an hour into it, the vacuum disconnect on the front axle stopped working. Not a big deal, I carried on in two wheel drive. A couple more hours went by, then in the middle of a long hill climb, the spider gears in the rear differential exploded. After a few choice words were said, the good folks of the Calgary Jeep Association were kind enough to tow my Jeep with two broken axles out of the bush. To this day I am very grateful that they were willing to help out like they did. I didn’t know any of them before that day and they had no obligation to help, but I’ve learned that’s just the kind of people there are in this sport and industry.

Eric

Hi, I’m Eric Bosak, Automotive Technician at Broken Axle. I’m originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I attended Red River College obtaining my Automotive Technician Journeyman’s Red Seal Licence. I moved to Alberta in 2007 to be closer to the mountains and enjoy my outdoor activities.

After working in various automotive shops for 15 years, I joined Broken Axle in the Spring of 2012 to pursue my interest in the 4 wheel drive performance industry.  I’m a big fan of all 4 wheel drive vehicles. I enjoy modifying and repairing these vehicles on a daily basis.

In my off time I like using my jeep off road and camping in the mountains. I enjoy hiking as well as mountain biking with good friends.
